Art is Language

This was a challenge to design a mural to be hung in the art department.

Design

As an artist, I think images can communicate when words can't, and can do so to anyone from any country in any world. The participants for this challenge were to pick a quote about art and then design something around it. "Art is Language" was my quote and decided to look at the world as a whole for the design. I first designed the globe and used text from different languages to form it before adding the various languages of the translated quote.

Making this was really a lot of fun because I have a lot of friends all over the world and asked all of them for translations of the main quote. Everyone was extremely helpful and they are the reason that the piece is so full of different languages. I'm very proud to have friends in such various places in the world. The only difficult think about designing it was the fact that no one in our art department knew how to type different languages on the macs, so I had to either add the text in on my own PC or copy and paste from emails and the web. Other than that, it was really a joy to make.
