Design

Most of my illustrations depict a character or two and their environment. In this particular case, the idea was to hone in on his magical talents and use this as the focal point. The background image and the power in his hands mirror each other, but also it gives a great background to work from. The text in the background that blends into the inside of the eliptical image reinforces the name of the piece and makes it obvious that this is an awakening of powers, not something as simple as waking from sleep. And he's not really standing on anything at all, but sort of floating. Think of it as something going on in his mind rather than the real world.

I noticed out of most of my illustrations, this was favored the most. I attribute it to his shirt, of course. *laughs*
